Dubai Marina by Metro

Dubai Marina is the postcard canyon of towers around a yacht harbour – and it is double-served by rail: Sobha Realty station (R36) on the metro plus the Dubai Tram threading the district itself. The metro-then-tram combination reaches every corner of the Marina without touching its notorious parking.

Which station, which corner

  • Marina Walk, the central promenade, dinner cruises: Sobha Realty station, then 10 minutes on foot down into the towers – or one tram stop.
  • Dubai Marina Mall and the mid-Marina: Sobha Realty → tram to Dubai Marina Mall stop.
  • JLT side, southern Marina: DMCC station (R37) – the other tram-linked stop; see also our JBR guide for the beach.

The tram transfer is a footbridge at both stations, and tapping the same Nol card within 30 minutes makes metro + tram one journey – the fare barely notices the transfer.

The Marina evening, done right

Arrive at golden hour: the station footbridge itself frames the tower canyon, then descend to Marina Walk as the lights come up. The promenade loop (Walk → Pier 7 → Marina Mall waterfront) runs about 3 km of restaurants, yachts and superstructure. Dhow and yacht dinner cruises board along the Walk – book ahead, and note boarding times are strict while the metro is not: trains every few minutes make the timing easy.

Fares and times

Airport: AED 7.50, 55-60 minutes (Gold Class at AED 15 earns its keep on this run). Downtown: AED 5, ~20 minutes. MOE: AED 3, ~10. The tram leg inside the 30-minute window adds effectively nothing on Nol.

Worth knowing

  • The station’s former names – Dubai Marina, then DAMAC Properties – still dominate old directions; all mean Sobha Realty (R36).
  • Late nights: the metro’s midnight/1 AM close comfortably covers Marina dinners; the tram runs its own (different) timetable – for post-midnight Fridays, confirm the tram or walk the promenade back to the metro.
  • Marina vs JBR confusion: the Marina is the harbour-and-towers loop; JBR is the beachfront strip one tram stop over. Same district family, different pages – and the tram sews them together.
  • Brunch season Fridays flood the tram and the taxi ranks alike around 4-5 PM; the metro leg stays comfortable against the flow.

Quick answers

Which metro station is for Dubai Marina?

How does the metro + tram transfer work?

55-60 minutes on the Red Line, AED 7.50 (or AED 15 in Gold Class - worth it with luggage on this long run).

Yes - Marina Walk is about 10 minutes downhill from Sobha Realty; the full promenade loop runs ~3 km of waterfront.
