DMCC station (R37) is Jumeirah Lakes Towers’ front door and one half of the metro’s tram gateway to the beach: a footbridge connects it directly to the Jumeirah Lakes Towers tram stop, putting JBR and the Marina waterfront one easy transfer away. Elevated over Sheikh Zayed Road, fare zone 2, near the southern end of the Red Line’s tower corridor.

JLT on foot

The station straddles the highway between JLT’s lake clusters and the Marina side. For JLT itself – the towers, lake promenades, and one of Dubai’s best independent restaurant scenes – take the JLT-side exit and pick your cluster; everything around the nearer lakes is 5-15 minutes on foot, shaded stretches included. Almas Tower and the DMCC free-zone offices that give the station its name sit mid-district, and the Uptown Dubai tower zone rises at the far southern edge.

The tram transfer to JBR

Follow the tram signage across the footbridge to Jumeirah Lakes Towers tram stop. Tap the same Nol card: a metro-to-tram switch within 30 minutes counts as one journey, so the beach run costs no more than the metro leg’s zone fare. JBR’s beachfront stops are a few tram minutes away. Note the tram runs its own timetable with a later start than the metro – check before an early beach start.

DMCC or Sobha Realty?

The two tram-linked stations are neighbours and the choice is simple: DMCC for JLT and the southern Marina/JBR end; Sobha Realty for Marina Walk, Marina Mall and the northern waterfront. Both connect to the same tram line, so getting it “wrong” costs only minutes.

The name history

Opened in 2009 as Jumeirah Lakes Towers, renamed DMCC after the free-zone authority headquartered here. Older guides, hotel directions and half the internet still say “JLT station” – same place.

Local tips

  • Evening peak leans inbound: 5:30-7:30 PM trains toward Downtown fill with JLT’s office crowd; toward Jebel Ali they are comfortable.
  • Cheap-fare pocket: zone 2 runs from Garmin (formerly ONPASSIVE) all the way past Ibn Battuta, so most Marina-area hops from DMCC are 1-zone AED 3 rides.
  • Dining note: JLT’s licensed restaurants cluster around the nearer lakes; unlike a mall, the walk involves outdoor stretches – in July, factor the heat between clusters.
  • For Ibn Battuta Mall, stay on the metro two stops rather than taxi – AED 3 and under ten minutes.

Getting here and onward

DMCC is elevated on the Red Line, zone 2, about an hour and AED 7.50 from the airport, with the Marina cluster and Ibn Battuta all 1-zone AED 3 rides. Evening peak leans inbound as JLT’s office crowd heads to Downtown and DIFC. The tram is the onward link to JBR and the beach; note it runs a later timetable than the metro.
