Sobha Realty station (R36) is the Dubai Marina stop: a footbridge drops you at the Dubai Marina tram station, with Marina Walk, Dubai Marina Mall and the yacht-lined promenade minutes beyond. Elevated on the Red Line in fare zone 2, roughly an hour from the airport and twenty minutes from Downtown.
Into the Marina
Take the Marina-side exit and either walk down into the towers – Marina Walk’s restaurants are about ten minutes on foot – or cross to the Dubai Marina tram stop for a one-stop glide to Dubai Marina Mall and the mid-Marina waterfront. The same 30-minute Nol transfer rule applies as everywhere: metro plus tram within half an hour bills as a single journey. For JBR’s beach, the tram continues to the Jumeirah Beach Residence stops.
Three names, one station
This is the network’s most-renamed landmark station: opened 2009 as Dubai Marina, became DAMAC Properties and later Sobha Realty. Hotel directions, older blogs and many drivers still use all three interchangeably. They are the same platforms – and the tram stop next door still carries the plain “Dubai Marina” name, which keeps the old name alive in everyday speech.
Marina practicalities
The Marina is an evening district: the promenade fills after sunset, dinner cruises board from the Walk, and the towers shade the water through the afternoon. Arriving by metro beats driving here every time – Marina parking is the neighbourhood’s famous headache. Heading home late, remember the network’s closing pattern (midnight most nights, 1 AM after Friday) and that the tram’s timetable differs from the metro’s – if the tram has wound down, the walk from mid-Marina back to this station is 15-20 minutes.
Local tips
- Gold Class and boarding at a terminus do not guarantee a seat or luggage space. Follow the marked cabin rules and allow for crowding.
- Marina Mall vs Marina Walk: the mall is one tram stop (or a 15-minute walk); the Walk’s dining starts closer to the station than the mall does.
- Sunset photography: the station footbridge itself has a clean elevated angle down the Marina canyon – arrive 20 minutes before golden hour.
- Zone 2 economics: JLT, JBR (via tram), Ibn Battuta and MOE are all 1-zone AED 3 hops from here.
Getting here and onward
Sobha Realty is elevated on the Red Line, zone 2, about 55-60 minutes and AED 7.50 from the airport – Gold Class at AED 15 earns its keep on this long run with luggage – and 20 minutes and AED 5 from Downtown, with JLT, JBR via tram, Ibn Battuta and MOE all 1-zone AED 3 hops. The tram is the onward link to the Marina Mall, JBR and the beach.
